OUR CURRENT PASSION PROJECT

CLEAN RUNNING WATER AND WELLS

Building Community Infrastructures to Bring Water into Individual Homes

Did you know that many of the more economically disadvantaged communities on Roatan have extremely limited running water? For most of Roatan's visitors, it might be hard to imagine a family of 9 only having access to water every 15 days. And that water is often collected by carry buckets and receptacles to the community well on the family's assigned day.

What could be more precious than the gift of clean running water every day, versus walking a long way to fill containers with water every 15 days?

Our pilot community, Bella Vista of the Balfate, has already organized with a plan to get running water into its nearly 700 homes. However, as they wait to buy materials, they lose time, and early infrastructures may be damaged.

Friends of Roa is working toward the goal of providing this community with waterworks a pavement to protect that infrastructure by the end of August, 2022!
